Bonjour!
Hello from France! It hardly seems real that I am back here again. It is much different than last time. I was a newbie then. Now I know my favorite places, and can search for new ones! My apartment is amazing. I feel like I have stepped back in time, to 1800's France. The ceilings are so high, the moldings so thick and elegant, the windows so large. The old parquet floor creaks underneath my feet. It was always my dream to live in a house with an old wood floor that creaked under my feet. The French language provides the same music to my ears, and speaking it gives me joy.
Since arriving, I visited some of my favorite places, ate the olive roll that I have been craving from my old boulangerie since I left France, and of course have been writing a lot. I still can't sleep, so I am awake until about 3 am.
My apartment is not only large and pleasing, but within walking distance to an organic market (no Ezekiel bread but lots of other things!), and the office store is right across the street! Perfect for a writer. My desk is well-used, and I either have a French TV or a French radio station playing in the background while I work. I can also walk to the Louvre, and the Jardin des Tuileries, one of the most beautiful places in Paris, with views of the Louvre, the Parisian architecture, and of course the Tour Eiffel. Today I found a lovely walk through the 2nd to the 4th arrondissement, one of my favorite areas of Paris, and near the eclectic Shakespeare and Co. bookstore.
That's all for now; stay tuned for more. I do miss you all, and I wish you could visit. Oh, and I will be posting this blog in both English and French. The more practice I get, the better!

Hi Nicole,
ReplyDeleteWell your description of Paris is inviting and idilic. I will live vicariously through your blog and it will be like a mini vacation for me. We have caught up on our rain here and everything is blooming. I harvested my green onion crop and they are in my dehydrator right now. My peach tree is in bloom and I have a new baby bunny in my back yard. I seem to get one every year. As I sit at my desk I glance out to see Buggs munching on my grass. Too bad I can't post a pic for you.
Saturday I did my first Off Road Triathlon. It started with an adventure because I thought the event was at Vail Lake east of Temecula, but it was actually at Parris Lake (no not your Paris). The same promoter does races at both locations at different times so the web site is confusing. So I pulled up to register 15 min before they close and discovered that I was almost an hour away from the race site. So I wasted a hundred bucks on a hotel in a town where they were not having a race. I made it to the actual race site to do some recognizance on the lay out and they chased me off the site! The next morning started at 4:15. The heavy rain the night before turned into snow about one thousand feet higher than the race elevation. It was really hard to consider jumping in a lake to swim a half mile when it was that cold. My feet were absolutely frozen just from walking through a hundred yards of wet grass on the way to the lake. My feet were frozen for the next two hours and thirteen min it took me to complete the race. And they gave me a gold medal for my effort.
I also finished the feux finnish on my front room. I have had ladders and plastic sheets in my front room for six months and now it looks great!!! Gotta get onto a conference call with the powers that be.
Ciao for now.
